Briggs Hatton is a playwright and screenwriter based in San Francisco. For five years, he developed new plays with Los Angeles incubator PlayGround-LA and received multiple Best of PlayGround audience awards. His short plays have been commissioned by NY’s Atlantic Theater M.F.A. Acting School, and Exit Theatre’s Short Play Festival 2026. His original Shakespeare adaptation, "Too Much of Water," was developed with the LA Ovation Award-winning theater company The Fugitive Kind. Briggs worked for the entertainment advertising firm Lindeman & Associates, where he contributed to brand campaigns for Warner Brothers, Paramount Studios, Disney, Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, as well as other entertainment clients.  As a TV writer, Briggs worked on the TBS comedic game show “The Misery Index,” and the cult-favorite NBC sitcom “Community.” He's been a script judge for Austin Film Festival and The Academy Nicholl Fellowship, and done script development work for Disney, Miramax, and Entertainment One. He’s written and performed at Upright Citizens Brigade LA, Second City Chicago, Improv Olympic Chicago, and the Neo-Futurists Chicago. He holds an M.A. in Humanities from the University of Chicago and a degree in Theater and Creative Writing (Fiction) from Northwestern University.
